There will be an independent investigation into a camera and intercom Palm Springs Mayor Robert Moon installed in his office earlier this year, reports the Desert Sun.

The city council voted unanimously on Wednesday to hire an outside investigator to look into the surveillance system installed by Moon in April after he claims that he noticed items in his office had been moved.  The city sought outside council and the matter was turned over to police, who did not pursue it.

The investigator will be selected by David Freedman, who is the head of the city’s ethics and transparency task force. There is no word yet on how much the investigation will cost the city.

Moon himself voted in favor of the investigation saying that he was fine with “anyone investigating anything in my life.”

Former councilwoman Ginny Foat, who lost the mayor’s race to Moon in 2015, told the Uken Report that she is concerned with Moon’s actions.

“In the last two years, I have seen, and maybe I just was blind to it, but he has become, I don’t know, self-consumed,” Foat said.
