Several days of heavy morning traffic on the 10 Freeway from Indio to Palm Desert has led CalTrans to change the hours of their road improvement project.
Crews have been repairing and replacing lanes from 10 pm to 11 am daily. This has now been changed to a 3 pm to 4 am schedule beginning today (Tuesday, October 23). Crews will be working from Sunday night through Friday morning.

The work on the 10 Freeway will stretch from Jefferson Street to Polaris Wash. Crews will also be working on Highway 111 from Lincoln Street to SR-86; and on SR-86 from the Imperial County Line to I-10. Those traveling in these areas might want to take an alternate route.
The work on the eastbound lanes will go for another few weeks, until mid-November. Then crews will flip around and work on the westbound lanes until about New Year’s.
