A man and woman police say led them on an early morning pursuit Wednesday from Cathedral City into Palm Springs that ended with a collision were arrested.
The chase began at 3:38 am near Avenida La Paloma and Ramon Road in Cathedral City, according to KMIR. An officer had noticed two cars in the middle of the road without their headlights on and people exiting and entering the vehicle. The officer attempted to stop both vehicles, but one of them sped off westbound on Ramon Road into Palm Springs.
The suspect’s vehicle crashed into another driver at Calle Encilia and Ramon Road. The suspects then fled on foot. Police were able to catch up to both of them.
A search of their car turned up a loaded 9 mm pistol.
Nicole Guzman, 34, and Manuel Montenegro, 20, were arrested.
The driver of the other vehicle was hospitalized with minor injuries.
