Rare is it the Palm Springs area sees a day of rain, even rarer is it that there are two straight days of rain in the Coachella Valley – but, here we are, with a few sprinkles possible through Friday as well. So how much rain has fallen in the desert this week? Here are the rainfall totals from the National Weather Service, as of 4 am Friday morning.

  • Whitewater Trout Farm: 1.02 inches of rain
  • Windy Point: 0.87
  • Cathedral Canyon: 0.77
  • Palm Desert: 0.67
  • Palm Springs Airport: 0.52
  • Desert Hot Springs: 0.51
  • Indio: 0.51
  • Thermal Airport: 0.42

For those thinking of heading up the mountains, you’re in luck, because they got plenty:

Bear Mountain Resort in Big Bear is reporting over a foot of new snow at the resort. Meanwhile, it looks like there might even be more than that at the Palm Springs Tram:

And even if you’re not headed up into the mountains, as soon as the clouds clear out, the pics from the desert floor should be awesome.
