The first weekend of 2019 is looking like a wet one for the Greater Palm Springs area.
The forecast is calling for a 50% chance of rain showers (with snow in the mountains) on Saturday. Sure, it doesn’t like it’s going to be a ton, but every bit helps.
We have a map showing the likely rainfall amounts for the storm this weekend (mainly Sat night). Looks like a "moderate" storm system with brief heavy rain possible along the cold front and on the south facing mountain slopes (SBD County mostly). Snow level 5000-5500'. #cawx pic.twitter.com/HxErQIlA4W

While the National Weather Service is predicting half-an-inch of rain for most places west of the pass, in the desert areas, the precipitation is expected to measure about .1 to .25 inches in Palm Springs and much less in the east valley – with less than a tenth-of-an-inch in Thermal.
But, it doesn’t end there, another storm is expected to move in on Tuesday and Wednesday and, wow, it might actually feel like winter for a bit in the Coachella Valley and aren’t you glad your mom got you a sweater for Christmas now.
