As you know, there has been much more rain than normal so far in this winter and, remarkably, it seems as if every storm manages to make its way into the Coachella Valley on a Thursday, forcing the cancellation of Palm Springs VillageFest – including tonight’s event.
The city announced tonight’s closure of VillageFest a little after 9 am Thursday morning:
“The City of Palm Springs would like to alert the community that VillageFest, the City’s weekly street fair held every Thursday night along Palm Canyon Drive between Baristo and Amado Roads, will be canceled tonight due to expected rain and flooding throughout the day and evening. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
And while cancelling the fest makes sense (as there has been so much rain with this storm!), after other recent weather cancellations on 1/31 and three straight weekends in November / December, one has to ask: what does Mother Nature have against VillageFest?
