A lengthy standoff came to an end at an Indio apartment complex on Monday morning after police surrounded a residence following a fight Sunday night at a nearby Chevron station where a man was hit by a car.
The fight was reported at about 10:30 pm at the gas station on Highway 111 and Monroe, according to the Desert Sun. Paramedics took the man who was hit by the car to Desert Regional. He was then airlifted to Loma Linda.

During the investigation, deputies were told that those involved in the fight were in an apartment building on Shadow Palm Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a rifle and handgun outside of the apartment.
Several people came out of the apartment, but one man refused, leading to an eight hour standoff, which ended a little after 8 am.

According to KESQ, five people, including the man involved in the standoff, were detained.
