The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has announced a sobriety checkpoint on Friday night in La Quinta.
The department will be conducting a DUI DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint to kick of Labor Day Weekend at an undisclosed location within the city limits on Friday, August 30 between the hours of 7 pm and 3 am.
As part of their press release on the checkpoint, The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, La Quinta Station reminds drivers that…
“DUI Doesn’t Just Mean Booze.” If you take prescription drugs, particularly those with a driving or operating machinery warning on the label, you might be impaired enough to get a DUI. Marijuana can also be impairing, especially in combination with alcohol or other drugs, and can result in a DUI. In 2017, 1,120 people were killed in alcohol-involved crashes on California roads.
As always, checkpoint or no checkpoint, if you are too impaired to drive, take a Lyft, an Uber, a cab, have a designated driver, or just stay home.
