A 29-year-old Mecca man was arrested on Tuesday in connection to an incident on April 03 in which police say a victim was struck in the head with brass knuckles.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Thermal Station responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon on 5th Street in Mecca on April 3, according to a news release. An investigation determined that the suspect struck the victim on top of the head with a firearm, then fled the scene.
The victim sustained a laceration to the top of his head.
Deputies identified the suspect as Irving Valenzuela of Mecca. He was arrested Wednesday on 5th Street and taken into custody without further incident.
It was later determined the weapon used was brass knuckles.
