As Crazy as it Sounds, There is a Chance for Snow in Palm Springs This Week

Snow Palm Springs

Palm Springs is known for being one of the warmest places in The United States, but this week could The Coachella Valley actually see snow?!?

A very cold winter storm is headed towards SoCal and the temperatures are about to plummet. According to Accuweather, the high temperature in Palm Springs will only be 40 degrees(!) on Wednesday:

Accuweather claims that the cold temperatures might bring snowfall to The Palm Springs area:

Showers of rain and wet snow are possible over the high deserts and could reach lower elevations over the interior of Southern California, such as Palm Springs.

While other forecasts, such as The Weather Channel, call for slightly higher temperatures (49) and do not have snow in the forecast for the area – snowfall has happened in Palm Springs before:

In 1979, enough measurable snow fell in town that Palm Canyon Drive was blanketed with white stuff and school was cancelled.

And whether or not New Year’s Eve brings a return of snow to Palm Springs, one thing is for sure: the last night of 2014 is going to be a cold one (well, for us desert rats anyway).
