A hiker was rescued in La Quinta on Sunday…a day that was very, very hot

Rescue teams were called to assist a hiker who suffered a back injury on a La Quinta hiking trail on Sunday – a day that saw temperatures soar to 114 degrees.

Officials were called to an area between the La Quinta Cove and Lake Cahuilla a bit after 10:30 am, according to Cal Fire.

With the help of rescuers, the hiker walked to safety and was taken to a hospital a little after 1 pm.

Monday’s high temperature in La Quinta is expected to reach 119 degrees – so perhaps wait for another day to head out on the trails.
