A missing 12-year-old Cathedral City girl has been found safe in Arizona. The Amber Alert for Cassidy Hayes was called off after she was found safe just outside of Page, Arizona, around 1:30 p.m. Monday.
State troopers made a traffic stop and detained suspect Michael Malloch and victim Cassidy Hayes.
Hayes left California with her stepbrother, 22-year-old Michael Malloch, Jr., on Sunday morning under suspicious circumstances.
According to Cathedral City Police, Malloch wrote a suicidal letter saying he cannot live without “her”. They were traveling in a 2002 gold Subaru Legacy and were believed to be heading to Massachusetts.
