An active death investigation is underway in La Quinta, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

A neighbor told the TV station that he heard shots fired and saw a woman in the street with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to her arm.
KMIR reports that a man was killed and a woman was injured with non-life threatening injuries.
Update 10:22 am:
A suspect in the shooting’s vehicle was spotted on the I-10 near Banning and the man led police on a pursuit into Ontario, where he pulled over and shot himself.
BREAKING: A pursuit ended near Inland Empire Blvd and Archibald Ave in Ontario with the driver shooting himself, @CHPInland officials said.
The driver was wanted for an assault with a deadly weapon investigation that started in La Quinta earlier this morning.

The Sheriff’s Department notes that this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to La Quinta residents.
