Nearly a year after performing the Desert Trip festival in Indio (Well, we think it was him, anyway. Can’t be sure since he wouldn’t let the camera show him), Bob Dylan returned the Riverside County recently to spend four days in the city of Riverside rehearsing at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium, reports the Press Enterprise.
The appearance was confirmed by Arich Berghammer, Live Nation’s executive vice president of clubs and theaters, when he updated the Riverside City Council last week on the Fox Performing Arts Center and Riverside Municipal Auditorium. Live Nation manages both venues.
“We just had Bob Dylan here for four days,” Berghammer said Oct. 24. “Bob Dylan called us (and) asked us if it would be possible to come to Riverside to do his rehearsal at the RMA. So when you have the opportunity where you become relevant, all of a sudden people call you instead of you calling them. Which makes it a lot easier for us to do business.”
Dylan doesn’t have any shows anytime soon in the area, with his tour taking him to the midwest and the east coast in November – so it probably just came down to finding a spot where he could be a, dare I say, “complete unknown” and rehearse without any distractions, which could basically be Riverside’s motto.
