Three teenagers were arrested on Thursday as police say they assaulted a man two weeks ago in Palm Desert.

Initially the assault, which took place on Azzuro Drive in the Brenna gated community, was investigated as a hit-and-run. Police arrived at 2:40 am on August 14 and found 18-year-old Trey O’Conner critically injured in the street. He was taken to the hospital where he fell

Investigators determined it was an assault and not a hit-and-run and arrested Luis Becerra-Gomez, 18, Miguel Ramirez, 18, and Nickolas Hernandez, 18, on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit a felony, reports the Desert Sun.

There is also a juvenile that has been identified as a suspect but has not yet been arrested.

Trey O’Connor’s family told KESQ that he is now out of a coma, and has shown limited responsive behavior.

“I stayed at the hospital last night, and he made some real progress,” Richard O’Connor told the TV station. “He reacted to a command and squeezed my hand, which was just unbelievable.”

The O’Conner family has set up a Go Fund Me the help with medical costs.
