Brooke Beare to exit KESQ

Longtime Palm Springs anchor / reporter Brooke Beare will leave KESQ after her 6:30 newscast on Wednesday.

Staff was alerted of Beare’s exit by email late last week, Beare confirmed to Cactus Hugs that her last day is tomorrow (10/2).

Beare had been an anchor of the 5:30, 6:30 and 11 pm news on CBS Local 2, before the station was blown up last year. She has since served as a reporter for KESQ while also anchoring a short 15 minute KESQ newscast at 6:30 that aired on channel 2.

“I’ve really enjoyed some of the aspects of what I’ve done lately,” Beare told Cactus Hugs. “Helping find justice for Rebecca Modrall’s family, working to expose safety issues at the local schools districts, that’s all fulfilling. But I’m really excited about this new opportunity. And it’s the right move for my family.”

Beare began working in Coachella Valley media when she joined the CBS affiliate during its first year on the air.  In 2007, she took at job at San Diego’s XETV, but returned to the Coachella Valley the next year as the evening anchor of CBS Local 2.

Update: Her new position has been announced.
