A Bakersfield woman who went in for surgery got an unexpected (and unwelcome) surprise: creepy text messages from a nurse who stole her phone number from her medical file.
Darcy White who went to Mercy Hospital for shoulder surgery, said her procedure seemed normal but her anesthesiologist nurse was anything but – as KERO reports:
“The next thing I remember is waking up Monday morning and reading through a series of text messages and call logs,” White said.
White allegedly found text messages and a picture that was sent to her by the nurse who references her appearance and clothing size.
The nurse admits to have taken White’s number from her file and told KERO he thinks he may have taken things too far.
The nurse is contracted through a separate company and is not an employee of Mercy Hospital. The hospital also issued a statement:
“Patient privacy and safety are top priorities for Dignity Health Mercy Hospitals. We are aware of the allegations and there is currently an ongoing investigation. Because the nurse is not an employee of Mercy Hospitals, we are prohibited from making any further comments in this personnel matter.”
