The huge landslide in Big Sur on May 20 not only killed off your dreams of ever continuously cruising up PCH, it also made California bigger. After analyzing before and after photos, the USGS claims the state is now 13 acres larger.

The landslide – which may have also brought down your reflection in the snow covered hills – was so big, the the USGS says it could have filled 800 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
