You can check out a couple local museums for free on Thursday

To celebrate International Museum Day, a couple of local museums are opening their doors for free to the public.

The Palm Springs Art Museum will be free to enter from noon to 9 pm on Thursday, May 18.  They will offer a special curator-led tour of the exhibition Grass Roots: Native American Basketry of the West at 4 pm. That will be followed by a Radial Symmetry Workshop focusing on Native American basket-making at 5pm.

From 6 to 8 pm, there will be a free program at the Agua Caliente Cultural Museum featuring live music, native dancers and refreshments.
