A family who thought their car was stolen for good were surprised to spot the SUV cruising around town…and in better condition than when it was taken!
Shane Peters was forced to leave behind his 2004 Dodge Durango on Highway 59 in Livingston, Texas after it broke down on the side of the road in June. Peters could not afford to tow the car immediately and, by the time he did have the money, his ride was long gone.
Then, on Sunday, his wife Chelsea spotted the SUV pulling out of a gas station. She followed the car and called the cops, who were able to get the Peters their car back and arrest the thief. But, there were a few changes to the ride and a big surprise inside. Via KHOU:
“(The thief) did fix what was wrong with it and why it was left on the side of the road,” Chelsea said.
The thief fixed the SUV’s drive shaft, installed three new wheels and also dumped drugs in the center console.
“There were like 30 little, bitty baggies,” Peters said.
Cops took the meth, but returned the car to The Peters.
