A CarMax employee is dead and another man has been arrested after a test drive turned deadly in Ontario Tuesday.
A red Chevrolet Corvette crashed into a tree about 12:45 p.m. reports ABC 7. Police say the car was traveling at a high rate of speed during a test drive.
The passenger, Warren Dennis Smale, 43, of Montclair, died from his injuries. Smale was a CarMax employee. The man test driving the car, Alex Demetro, 28, of Union City, was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter and felony driving under the influence of drugs.
Smale’s coworkers remembered him as a positive person.
“He was the guy at work that it didn’t matter what kind of day you were having, he was there for you,” Lydia Garrett told CBS. “He would make you laugh, he would make you smile.”
