A 21-year-old man is dead after police say he was fatally shot in a drug deal gone bad.
Police found Hector Perez, 21, conscious in the area of Baristo Road and Date Palm Drive at 12:50 a.m. early Monday morning, reports The Desert Sun. He was discovered sitting in a vehicle and had been shot in upper body.
Authorities rushed Perez to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where he died while receiving treatment.
Authorities say that Perez was involved in some sort of altercation during a transaction involving marijuana. It is not clear from the reports if Perez was the buyer or seller. After being shot, Perez fled the scene and called police.
