A man was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries after he accidentally shot himself in Cathedral City Monday afternoon.

The shooting happened about 1 pm on Ramon Road near Palm Springs Lanes, reports KESQ. Officers arrived to find a man with a single gunshot would to a lower extremity.

According to KMIR, the man shot himself while trying to “manipulate the gun” which officers were not able to find at after an “extensive search.
