Cathedral City will install signs on Ramon Road to try to discourage jaywalking

Cathedral City is looking at installing warning signs on Ramon Road that officials hope will discourage people from jaywalking.

The move follows a spike in pedestrian deaths in the area – with at least four people dead after attempting to cross the street in 2018.

According to the Desert Sun, the signs would be placed on the center medians. City staff and police are currently looking at what would be the appropriate design and size of the signs along with how many would be ordered and the cost of the project.

They expect to have a plan for the signs by the end of this week.
