Charlie Sheen appeared on the Today Show Tuesday morning an announced,” I’m here to admit that I am in fact HIV Positive. I have a responsibility now to better myself and help a lot of other people.”
Sheen told Matt Lauer that he was diagnosed four years ago when he had migraines and nighttime sweats had soaked his bed – which he, at the time, thought to be brain tumor. A doctor’s checkup revealed that he had the HIV virus.
Sheen had told some people in his “inner circle” – but, news of the diagnosis leaked which led to him being blackmailed. “My trust turned to their treason,” Sheen said.
When probed about how much money the actor has given to blackmailers, Sheen said, “I don’t want to guess wrong, but enough to bring it into the millions.”
Sheen claimed during the interview that he hadn’t knowingly infected anyone since finding out he was HIV positive four years ago. He said of the rumors that he is knowingly spreading the virus, “Wow… that’s just as far from the truth than can be.”
