Clever California woman uses taco to distract armed robber

A mother of four kept her family safe by using the promise of a taco to distract an armed suspect who was impersonating a police officer in the City of Industry.

A family of six stopped by a taco truck on their way home from a waterpark on Sunday evening. While they were eating their tacos in their van, a man approached on a bike, flashed a badge and a gun, and told the family he was an undercover cop, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The mom wasn’t buying it, so she offered the man a taco and told him she would go get him so napkins. The suspect ransacked through her purse as she walked away.

When she went up to the truck, she told customers to call 911, while not looking at the van to avoid suspicion.

Deputies quickly arrived and when the suspect saw them, he tossed the gun into the van and tried to get inside. Police were able to stop the suspect and arrest him before anything else happened.
