Valley View Elementary School in the city of Coachella has been placed on lockdown as a precaution after reports of gunshots in the area.
Deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department responded to Valley Road to investigate the reported shots a little before 10:30 am.
The lockdown was enacted as a precautionary measure, according to officials.

A letter sent out by Valley View Elementary School Principal Zamudio stated that a stray bullet hit the ceiling of a classroom, according to KESQ. No one was hurt.
