If you were planning on heading west on The 10 Freeway out of Palm Springs on Monday, and you haven’t already left, you might as well just find a nice pool to lounge by, a cool trail to hike, or literally anything else that doesn’t involve being stuck bumper to bumper from Indio to Cabazon and beyond.
Last Monday was awful and odds are today will be too – because that’s what happens when over 100,000 people all try to leave a town with basically one exit all at the same time.
If it were me, I would just stay for the day and leave at night – using the time to head up the Tram, check out the Living Desert’s Earth Day stuff, enjoying some good food, heading up to Idyllwild, checking out the Coachella Valley Preserve, or hanging out by the pool at one of the zillion Coachella Valley hotels until about 5 or 6 tonight, when things will finally start to get back to normal.
Or just head west on the 10 and keep your fingers crossed that this will be the first ever Monday with no traffic since Coachella added camping.
