The Coachella Valley is losing an Applebee’s

The Coachella Valley, which is home to a shockingly high amount of Applebee’s, will see that number decrease by one come July.

According to the Desert Sun, the Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar in Rancho Mirage is shutting down after 17 years as the lease is expiring and they decided not to renew.  The location will shut its doors by July 1.

Diners looking for Applebee’s in the desert will now only be able to do so in Palm Desert, La Quinta, Indio, Beaumont, and Cathedral City.  All of the Rancho Mirage employees have been offered positions at the other locations.

The closing of the restaurant, which is just west of The River, comes two years after Mimi’s which was across from the retail and dining center, closed its doors.  That location sat vacant until very recently, when it became a law office.
