A heatwave continued to bring scorching temperatures to the Coachella Valley on Saturday, bringing temperatures hot enough to set a record for the second day in a row.
Thermal saw a high of 116 (!) – which broke the record for the day of 115 set all the way back in 1957.
Palm Springs (where the other official thermometer is) also hit 116, but that was (surprisingly) just short of a the record.
Naturally, the high temperatures did not go over well in the Coachella Valley.

OK, it hit 121 degrees in Palm Springs today, according to my car's external temperature gauge. I am a walking omelet.

Forecasts call for temperatures to “cool down” a few degrees on Sunday.
Summer does not officially start for two more weeks.
