After months of what seemed like we had just skipped winter altogether, things have finally cooled down in Southern California and a storm is moving into Southern California that’s expected to bring cold temps and plenty of snow to our local mountains.
The storm, expected to hit Tuesday, is a cold one and snow levels are expected to drop all the way down to 2,000 feet – so yeah, Yucca Valley, don’t be surprised if you see some of the white stuff.
When all is said and done, Big Bear and the top of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway should see anywhere from 6 to 12 inches of snow – so don’t put that snowboard or sled away just yet.
Updated snow amounts reflect much higher totals for the #SoCal mountains! This will have MAJOR travel impact. Snow level to fall to 2000-2500 FT by Tue morning with snow possible even through the Cajon Pass/I-15 and Sunrise Summit/I-8 in #SanDiego County. #cawx pic.twitter.com/mkP9SZFiYw

And while there should be plenty of snow (and plenty of photo opps), don’t expect much in the Coachella Valley in the way of rain – with only .08 inches predicted in Palm Springs.
A cold front will arrive late tonight with a band of heavy precipitation, and then additional #rain showers through Tuesday, here are storm total precipitation amounts expected #cwwx which will impact #commutes pic.twitter.com/aHQg4cuCcu
