Congressman Raul Ruiz (no, not that one, the incumbent one) took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce his support for impeachment hearings against Donald Trump.
“Out of respect for our Constitution, concern for our national security, & in my constituents’ interest, I am fully supportive of an official impeachment inquiry, ” the congressman stated. “President Trump’s conduct has left us no choice but to pursue every avenue to investigate potential abuses of power.”

A longer statement was posted on the Congressman’s Facebook account in which Ruiz states that “impeachment should not be used as a political weapon, and I urge members of both parties to approach the process with an open mind, to go where the facts lead us, and to put country ahead of party and politics.”
The announcement follows reports that Trump pressured Ukraine’s President to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son. There is no evidence of wrongdoing by either Joe Biden or his son Hunter Biden.
