Did you happen to go to the Palm Springs Mayor’s State of the City address this week? Of course you didn’t. Why would anyone want to sit through a boring speech full of a bunch of propaganda for developers at a cost of $100 a ticket? Well, as the Desert Sun reports, some in the city council think that the annual address is a little much.
In a Facebook thread highly critical of the event, council members Geoff Kors, Ginny Foat and JR Roberts all chimed in to say they felt it could have been more open. Roberts said he was “somewhat embarrassed” by how it was organized.
And it appears they will try to change things.
“At the Council meeting next week I will be requesting that a discussion of future State of the City events be put on the Council agenda for discussion,” Foat said on Facebook.
First off, in a Facebook thread? Okay.
Second, the event brought together an exclusive group of people for a night of finger foods, cocktails, and, for some reason, women in evening dresses singing. All that, plus way too much back patting and all at a price ordinary residents would never pay.
So basically, it was just like every other event in Palm Springs.
