When a friend tried to leave his birthday party, a Garden Grove man tried to stop her by getting on the ground in front of her car. This move proved to be fatal.
Jonathan Merkley, 34, was with friends at the Staybridge Hotel in San Diego drinking and partying for his birthday. When a woman decided to leave at about 1:20 am, Merkley got on the ground in front of her BMW thinking it would stop her, reports ABC 7. The woman drove over him and drove away.
Merkley suffered a major chest injury and died at a nearby hospital about 45 minutes later, according to CBS 8.
Police have identified the woman, but she has not been arrested.
