People who believe it is super macho to pay $50,000 to shoot a defenseless animal and then mount their head on a wall to show just how tough they are will have to find a new airline to fly home their prize.
Delta Air Lines announced Monday that hunting trophies are no longer allowed on their flights. The policy, via The LA Times:
Effective immediately, Delta Air Lines will officially ban shipment of all lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros and buffalo trophies worldwide as freight. Prior to this ban, Delta’s strict acceptance policy called for absolute compliance with all government regulations regarding protected species. Delta will also review acceptance policies of other hunting trophies with appropriate government agencies and other organizations supporting legal shipments.
Detla joins a list of other airlines who also have a ban on hunting trophies including: British Airways, Air France, KLM, Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa, Air Emirates, Iberia Airlines, IAG Cargo and Qantas.
