Desert Hot Springs Tuesday became the 3rd Coachella Valley City to approve weed shops (Palm Springs and Cat City).
The City Council approved the three slots and they will be awarded based on a points system amongst applicants.
According to The Desert Sun, criteria includes: financial and criminal background, how the shop will be managed and organized, and how many patients are expected to use the store. Current, Desert Hot Springs residents and business owners will be given additional points.
Application fees are planned to be set by the council on Nov. 4, with applications for dispensaries accepted Nov. 7-21.
There is no timetable as of yet as to when the dispensaries will actually open their doors.
