The victim has not been named.
Neighbors told KMIR that they heard between 15 and 20 gunshots, possibly from multiple weapons. The TV station also reports that car was scene fleeing the scene, driving erratically and damaging a mailbox.
Detectives later investigated a person of interest at Eisenhower Medical Center, which had its emergency room on lockdown – which is standard practice when a gunshot victim is involved.
This is the second fatal shooting this week in the city and the third homicide this year in Desert Hot Springs.
