Disneyland is building yet another hotel on their property and, to make room for it, they are getting rid of quite a few Downtown Disney spots.
The hotel is planned to open in 2021, but the closings are set to happen sometime in June of this year so crews can tear down the buildings to make way for the new rooms and such.
Here is what is closing, according to ABC 7:
- AMC 12 Theaters
- Rainforest Café
- ESPN Zone
- Earl of Sandwich
- Alamo Rent-a-car
- Starbucks (on the west side)
- A Disney Vacation Club office
- A Walt Disney Travel Company office
Most of these probably won’t be missed – though it was always nice to have the ESPN Zone there in case there was big game you wanted to watch while at the park (though that new brewery on the way will probably have tvs and better beers) and Earl of Sandwich makes a pretty decent sammy.
But, as the Orange County Register reports, Disneyland has turned their attention away from trying to draw locals to the area in favor of landing out-of-towners to spend all of their money on the property instead.
Because, clearly, Mickey needs more cash.
