You can on longer catch an Uber or Lyft just anywhere in downtown Palm Springs as the city has created new ride-share pick-up spots.
The pilot program has riders requesting pick-up along Arenas or Palm Canyon Drive between Arenas and Baristo roads to meet the driver at a special loading area off the main street, according to the Desert Sun.
The ride-share app will direct the user to the pickup location. The furthest a rider would need to walk is about two blocks.
The city told the newspaper they coordinated with Uber and Lyft on the pick-up locations to make the area safer and, should the program be a success, it may be put into effect in other spots in the city.
