Rescue crews were pretty busy during Memorial Day weekend on Mount San Jacinto.
As the Press Enterprise reports, State Park rangers rescued over twelve hikers who were either lost or in need of assistance, including a group of seven hikers who ran out of water and had become dehydrated Sunday along the steep Skyline trail (Cactus to Clouds), about two miles below the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway mountain station.
Park officials advise hikers to be prepared before they head out on the trails and to always carry the 10 essentials of hiking: extra food and water, headlamp or flashlight with extra batteries, sun protection, extra clothing, first aid kit, fire starter, whistle, map and a compass.
