Dr. Dre, real name Andre Young, was handcuffed by police outside his house in Malibu on Monday morning after a man claimed Dre threatened him with a gun.
Police were called to Dre’s home at 11:15 a.m. by a man who said that Dre pointed a handgun at him while he was stopped on Pacific Coast Highway, according to NBC 4. The accuser said that Dre demanded the man leave.
Police handcuffed Dre and detained him in a patrol car while they investigated.
“Due to the nature of the call, the person was searched, handcuffed, and briefly detained in a patrol car while deputies investigated the incident,” Sheriff’s Capt. Chris Reed told the LA Times.
Dre told police that the man was blocking his driveway and he asked him to leave. When Dre pulled out his cell phone to record, he says the driver left.
Dre also claimed the driver had followed him from a freeway where the pair had been involved in a road-rage-type incident, according to the LA Times.
Police did not find a gun at the scene and Dre denies threatening the man.
Dr. Dre was not arrested but was given a citation.
