The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has announced two sobriety checkpoints happening Friday night in the Coachella Valley.
The Palm Desert Police Department Traffic Unit announced they will be conducting DUI / Drivers License Checkpoint at an undisclosed location within the city limits Friday night (5/26/17) between the hours of 7 pm and 3 am.
There will also be a checkpoint in the city of Coachella taking place on Friday (5/26/17), which will also be from 7 pm to 3 am at an undisclosed location, according to a news release. Update: the checkpoint scheduled for Coachella has been cancelled as of Friday morning, according to the Sheriff’s website.
Cops at both checkpoints will be looking for signs of alcohol and drug impairment, as well as checking licenses and registration.
Checkpoint or no checkpoint, if you have had too much to drink, take a Lyft, an Uber, a cab, have a designated driver, or just stay home – as, unfortunately, the cities of Palm Desert and Coachella do not offer a free shuttle (well, free for now, anyway) the way the city of Palm Springs does.
