California, a state that most people living elsewhere would gladly give their left arm to move to, was named the state with the worst quality of life in the United States by one of those internet reports posted to the internet that gets a lot of clicks but makes absolutely no sense.
U.S. News and World Report, which I just learned today still exists, ranked all 50 states on things like healthcare, education, crime, infrastructure, and economy and, at the end of the day, California was ranked behind New Jersey (#49) and Indiana (#48).
So what are the best states according to the report? Utah (3), Minnesota (2), and Iowa, freakin’ Iowa!, coming in at number one. Guess that’s why every high schooler in the nation dreams of moving to Iowa the day they turn 18.
Seriously, is California the best? Maybe, maybe not. But last place behind New Jersey and Indiana. No way.
And while none of this makes any sense, here’s the thing that people from other states need to know: California is a total garbage state and all of the stereotypes are true. You definitely don’t want to move to California now or ever. We’ll just be over here suffering while you shovel snow.
