An elderly man is dead after he was struck by a car in Desert Hot Springs on Thursday night.

The man was hit at West Drive and Mission Lakes Boulevard, according to Police Chief Dale Mondary.

Mondary told KESQ that has the man was in the crosswalk and the vehicle missed the stop sign.

The driver immediately called police and is cooperating with the investigation.
