A pilot is dead after hi twin-engine plane crashed in Bautista Canyon in rural southwest Riverside County.
The Piper PA23 crashed under unknown circumstances about 12:20 pm, reports the Press Enterprise. The crash site was about 15 miles southeast of Hemet.
The pilot was believed to be the only person on board. The victim’s name has not been publicly announced. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
A small vegetation fire was also contained at the crash site.
