A fire broke out in an abandoned date grove in Thermal on Monday.
The blaze is burning near the 56900 Block of Jackson Street, according to Cal Fire. 50 firefighters and 15 fire engines are on the scene.

The fire was reported about 2 pm and had burned around 3 to 5 acres as of 3:30.
