Supporters of a man accused of a hate crime attack on a married couple in Palm Springs set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for his legal costs. The campaign is off to a less than stellar start.
Police claim Keith Terranova and an unidentified man attacked Chris and George Zander after they left Hunter’s nightclub in Palm Springs on November 1st.
A woman named Jackie La Fonte created the GoFundMe campaign to raise $10,000 for Terranova’s legal fees because, according to the campaign, those who know the 35-year-old Terranova “know not to believe everything you read.”
The Desert Sun reported that as of Thursday afternoon, four people had contributed a total of $80 to the campaign. By Thursday night, KESQ reported that the campaign could not be seen by the public as it was under review by GoFundMe officials.
Terranova pleaded not guilty to the charges against him in court on Monday. He faces up to 11 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
