There’s yet another effort underway to turn California into multiple states.
The “New California” campaign was founded by Robert Paul Preston and Tom Reed, who seek to split the more liberal coast from the more conservative inland areas.
“After years of over taxation, regulation, and mono party politics the State of California and many of its 58 Counties have become ungovernable,” the New California movement declares on its website.
They also say that California is a failed state and that we’ve become governed by a tyranny.
Naturally, the internet has some thoughts:

Trying to split Cali into old and New California is a desperate attempt to give Republicans a leverage on the most important liberal state in our country.
FYI: it's not happening

In order for the plan to move forward, the state legislature would have to approve followed by Congress. In other words, it’s not going to happen.
