Thursday night, we drank beers – which is not an uncommon thing for all of us to do – but, unlike most drinking nights, it was all for a good cause – as over five thousand dollars was raised for those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

For four hours, 50% of all beer sales at both Babe’s Bar-B-Que and Brewhouse and La Quinta Brewing Company were donated to the American Red Cross and Houston Food Bank for their efforts in Houston. You guys came out to both breweries, drank plenty of beer, and we managed to raise over $500 – which is so awesome!

But then, as things wound down, La Quinta Brewing Company decided to go huge and opened up their wallets big time – to the tune of $5,000 for the Houston Food Bank!! – and  now I’m going to need a moment.

Note: I seriously cried when they told me this and now I am going to buy all the Even Par IPA in sight to show my gratitude.  Next time you are in the brewery, give everyone working there big ol’ hug.

Seriously, thank you so much to everyone who came out last night! It was awesome to see old and new friends and to do it in person rather than in the comments section. Also, thank you to the gigantic staff of people at Cactus Hugs (Kristen and Mari) for all of your help and support and to awesome media folks like Brooke Beare for getting the word out.

Finally, thank you to Art, Jason and everyone at Babe’s Bar-B-Que and Brewhouse as well as Scott, Tina, Derek, Mychal, and the whole staff at La Quinta Brewing Company for opening up their doors and their wallets for those in need.

These amazing breweries went all out for this on short notice and it makes me proud to have people like them in the Coachella Valley.
