The Tilted Kilt in Palm Desert closed down (for a second time) nearly nine months ago. Since that time, the building at Highway 111 and Painters Path has sat vacant. But why? There seems to be be a pretty obvious tenant for the space. So who do we need to call about putting a Claim Jumper in there?
Now granted, the location has kind of a terrible history when it comes to restaurants, bars, and whatever the hell The Jetty was opening there. But, a Claim Jumper would be a bit different.
Let’s just get this out of the way first. The building already looks like a Claim Jumper. Here is the Claim Jumper in San Bernardino, via Google Maps:

Sure, not exactly the same…but close enough.
Second, that area of Palm Desert is becoming a bit of a chain restaurant destination with Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Outback, Chipotle, HomeTown Buffet, and more. If you are going to add another one, why not just put it there with the rest?
Third, and most importantly, Claim Jumper is known for having a pretty solid Happy Hour – much like the nearby Stuft Pizza at the Westfield Mall. But, you never get to enjoy Stuft’s, since all the snowbirds take up all the barstools at 3 p.m. while you are working. Then you show up to try to grab a beer at 5:30 p.m., only to find out you are S.O.L.
So yeah, I guess what I am saying is: this might be another option for you.
